If you've visited TreasureTrooper.com before, there's a good chance you either looked at its theme and instantly turned away, or you tried it out for a day and left because it was too confusing.
Those are two very common reactions. But, don't judge this GPT site so fast.
In this Treasure Trooper review, I'll break things down completely to give you an idea of how the site works and whether it's worth your time.

What is Treasure Trooper?
Treasure Trooper is a GPT site with a twist. It's one of the most unique (if not THE most unique) GPT sites on the web because it has a theme like no other.

As you can see, the Indiana Jones vibes are real. This thing looks like a website from the past for sure.
Is that a bad thing? No. But it does turn some people away.
Don't judge a book by its cover though. Treasure Trooper is actively updated, and the theme is there for a reason. Stick around to see why.
Why Treasure Trooper is Legit
- Been around since 2005
- Are operated by a legitimate company: TreasureTrooper LLC
- Paid out over $7 million to users with confirmed payment proofs
- Free to use
- Have positive reviews on sites like Trustpilot and Sitejabber
- List an email for support: support@treasuretrooper.com
For these reasons, I have no reason to believe Treasure Trooper is a scam.
If they were intentionally trying to defraud users, they wouldn't have lasted this long and would most likely have a lot more negative reviews throughout the web.

Who Can Join?
- Age requirement: 13 years old.
- Country requirements: Worldwide, but a TT employee told me over email that those in the US, Canada, UK, and India will get the most offers.
- Device requirements: Works on any device with a web browser, although mobile browsers may not provide a great users experience as the Treasure Trooper site isn't mobile optimized.
- Payout requirements: Verified PayPal account or an address for check payments.
Treasure Trooper Safety Inspection
- Are they using an SSL certificate for security? Yes.
- Do they have a privacy policy page? Yes.
- Do they have a terms and conditions page? Yes.
- What type of user data do they collect? Name, address, email, gender, date of birth, phone number, and other demographic info.
- Do they sell data to third-parties? No. The only time your info is shared with third parties is if it's requested by law enforcement, for payments (e.g. providing info to PayPal), and to provide access to third-party features (e.g. offer walls/surveys from other companies)
- Can you delete your account and data at any time? Yes. Head to your profile to do this.
Bottom line?
Treasure Trooper is safe to use, but in the end, it always comes down to what you're comfortable with.
Tip: If you do an offer or survey from a third party, be sure to read that third party's privacy policy to see how they'll handle your data.
How Treasure Trooper Works

The way Treasure Trooper works is a tiny bit more complicated than most GPT sites, but once you get the hang of things it all becomes pretty straightforward.
Like any other GPT site, TT offers several ways to earn, including paid surveys, cash offers, and more.
For completing tasks, you'll earn cash, along with other currencies, including:
- Arrowheads
- Platinum coins
- Dragon scales
- Pearls; and
- Gold coins.
Cash can be withdrawn via check or PayPal, but the other currencies are a bit different. They must be traded and exchanged within the site.
For example, platinum coins can be exchanged for gift cards and physical rewards (like electronics) at the Treasure Trooper Trading Hut.
We'll go into all of this more below. If things seem confusing now, that will (hopefully) be cleared up soon.
Treasure Trooper Earning Potential
It's difficult to get an average hourly earning rate from sites like Treasure Trooper. It varies greatly depending on your demographics, the day, and what offers are available.
As a new user, expect to earn $20-$100/month or around $1-$5/hour on average.
It's possible to earn more if you develop a good strategy, but with survey disqualifications and other uncontrollable factors, hourly earnings will vary day by day.
If you're going to use Treasure Trooper (or any survey site) I recommend thinking more about it as free money rather than an income source you depend on.
Also, as a fun experiment, you should keep track of your earnings (across all GPT sites you use) in a spreadsheet each month. You might be surprised at how all the small earnings add up.
Payment Proofs
To further prove their legitness, Treasure Trooper has an entire catalog of payment proofs that they regularly post on their site.

You can even add your own payment proof to the catalog once a month for a bonus $0.50.
Here are a couple of payment proofs I pulled from the catalog above:

All in all, looks pretty legit to me! And it's pretty clever of Treasure Trooper to pay users for payment proofs.

How to Earn: Cash Offers, Surveys, and More
There are over ten different ways to earn money on Treasure Trooper, so you've got a lot of options. They don't all carry equal earning potential though.
1. Cash Offers
Cash offers on Treasure Trooper include surveys, promotional offers, app installs, and more.

Some of them require a purchase to fully credit (the trial offers specifically) so watch out for those.
The offers that don't require a purchase pay around $0.20-$1.00 each. What's annoying is that you can't see how long a specific offer might take, so it's a bit of a shot in the dark.
Each offers pays either cash, platinum coins, or dragon scales (more on those last two later).
Tips:
- Check the “Recent Approvals” on the left-hand side of the screen. This can give you an idea of which offers credit successfully.
- Be sure to click “Done” on an offer after you complete it – This is how you get your credit.
2. Surveys
The cash surveys page on Treasure Trooper gives you access to more paid surveys from a variety of third-party providers.
The first things you'll see here are two panel routers:
- Study Storm – A collection of third-party survey providers including YourSurvey, RevenueWall, and TheoremReach. Lots of different ways to earn here.
- Survey Seeker – Treasure Troopers calls this their private survey panel but the offers seem to link to 3rd parties research companies anyway.
The other surveys you'll see here are the daily surveys:

Completing the same daily surveys multiple days in a row will give you bonus dragon scales.
Tips:
- If you don't care for the dragon game (more on that later), I'd stick to the Study Storm and Survey Seeker walls for best hourly rates.
- Clear your cookies/cache after you complete a survey for a better chance of crediting.
3. Paid Searches
Yup, Treasure Trooper has its own search engine, and you can get paid to use it.

As you search you'll earn arrowheads. After 100 searches you can get a dragon egg (only 3 searches/day count toward this though).
You can make the Treasure Trooper engine your default search engine to ensure more rewards, but personally, I'll stick with Google.
Tip: Don't just spam random searches. That's like, rookie mistake #1. It rarely works and will likely just get you banned. If you want to earn from this, your searches need to be legit.
4. Shopping
If you want to get paid to shop, Treasure Trooper can help you there too…sorta.

By shopping through their links you'll earn cashback straight to your Treasure Trooper account.
As a bonus, you'll also earn one platinum coin each time you earn $5 in cash back.
Only problem is, when I checked, there were only 50 stores to choose from. Rakuten and other more established cash back sites will give you a much better selection.
Hopefully Treasure Trooper expands their partnerships soon to make this a more viable earning opportunity.
5. Paid Videos
Treasure Trooper's cash video offers will literally pay you to run videos on your web browser.
Unfortunately, when I went to test this no videos were available. Might be due to where I live, but either way, it was disappointing to see.
6. Arrowhead Dig Sites
Don't get things mixed up here, these “arrowhead dig sites” are just third-party offer walls.
This includes Peanut Labs, OfferToro, and several others ones.
The reason for the name is because instead of earning cash here, you'll earn arrowheads, which can be exchanged at the currency conversion shop (more on that below).
7. Dragon Breeding
This is where Treasure Trooper really sets itself apart. They have an entire dragon mini-game :O
Even though I'd never played it before writing this review, it feels nostalgic:

Not only can you grow, breed, and sell dragons in your lair, but you can also train them and battle them against other users' dragons.
For each fight you win, you'll get a reward. And, each dragon you sell nets you cold hard cash (up to $100).
That being said, I wouldn't recommend actually trying to milk this game for money. While it's a neat feature, it's not a quick money-maker.
Tip: If you're interested in learning more, check out this forum post.
8. Cryptic Codes
These are similar to Swag codes (read my full Swagbucks review to learn about those).
Basically, if you find a cryptic code, you can enter it under “Redeem -> Cryptic Treasure” for a reward.
Browse the TT forums, chat room, and social media accounts for codes. Check the email newsletters too.
9. Games, Contests, and Other
Some other ways to earn on Treasure Trooper include games like jungle slots, chatroom bingo, and treasure hunting.

You can also win money and other rewards through the monthly contests. When I checked there was a raffle contest with multiple $5 prizes given out.
Oh, and as mentioned above, you can earn an extra $0.50 each month by submitting a payment proof photo to TT.
10. Referrals
The referral program on Treasure Trooper is actually pretty lucrative. There are four tiers:
- Bronze – No requirement. Earn 20% of all referral earnings + 5% from secondary referrals. Unlimited earnings.
- Silver – Requires 5 active referrals. Get all of the above plus 5 cents for each daily survey a referral completes.
- Gold – Requires 50 active referrals. Get all of the above plus a $1 bonus for each active referral and 7 cents for each daily survey a referral completes.
- Diamond – Requires 300 active referrals. Get all of the above plus $5 for first-time referral cashouts, 10 cents for each daily survey completed by referrals, and a one time $300 cash bonus.
To count as an active referral, they must earn at least $5.
Tip: With 8 pearls you can buy a friendship bracelet from the trading hut, which awards you with 2 referrals.
Treasure Trooper Currency Conversions
Ok, we're finally going to talk about all these crazy different currencies that Treasure Trooper has.
Here's my scrappy conversion chart:
- 1 Arrowhead = $0.01 (trade these for platinum coins at the currency converter for the best value).
- 1 Platinum coin = $1 (can be exchanged for gift cards or other rewards like electronics).
- 1 Dragon scale = $0.20 (can be used in Coggs Coop for dragon items).
- 1 Pearl = $0.50 (eight pearls can be used to make a friendship bracelet that awards you 2 referrals).
- 1 Gold coin = $0.50 (can be used in the jungle slots or at the trading hut for various goods).
Keep in mind, technically none of these currencies are actually worth real money. The chart above is just based on the currency converter offered on the site and the value of items in the trading hut.
How to Cash Out: PayPal, Gift Cards, and More
The different currencies on Treasure Trooper give you a few different rewards options.
1. Cash Payment via Check or PayPal
When it comes to withdrawing your actual cash balance on Treasure Trooper, you'll first need at least $20 in your account.
You'll also need to fill out your profile with a valid address.
After that, you can set your preferred payment method. You have two choices:
- Check
- PayPal
That's it. If neither of those work for you, you should probably steer clear of TT.
Payments are sent between the 15th and 20th of each month, but you can request an instant payout for a $0.50 fee if needed.
2. Gift Cards and Electronics
Even though there are gift cards, you can only buy them with platinum coins at the trading hut.

This is fine if you've earned the platinum coins from offers, but otherwise, each platinum coin at the currency converter costs $2.
A $50 Visa card at the trading hut costs 50 platinum coins, which would cost $100 if bought with cash, so that hardly seems worth it.
You can also use platinum coins to get physical rewards like electronics.
3. Dragon Stuff
As you use Treasure Trooper you'll inevitably earn dragon scales. The only thing you can do with these is use them at Cogg's Coop for dragon items.

Following the dragon guide I linked to above, you can eventually get to the point of selling any dragons you raise for $5 (or more if it's your first time selling a certain tier 2-4 dragon).
Additional Treasure Trooper Features
Would it surprise you to learn Treasure Trooper has quite a few extra features?
Probably not at this point.
Still, some of these extra features are actually really nice. Check em out:
1. The Chat Room
It's not always super active, but you can receive random rewards for hanging out in the chat room. I got a gold coin and met some cool people in there too.

This is a feature that Treasure Trooper did really well on.
I think other GPT sites should follow in their footsteps because being able to chat with other members makes the whole survey grind a lot less boring.
2. Forums

Again, not super active here either. You'll see a lot of guests browsing but not a ton of registered users.
Still, there are some handy threads and guides you can find.
3. Team Goals
Around the site you’ll find community goals where you can work together with everyone else on the site. Here's what they look like:

By completing different tasks you can contribute to certain team goals. Then, you'll get rewarded if the overall goal is met.
For example, if enough paid searches are made and you contributed at least 10 searches to the goal, you’ll get some bonus rewards like a pearl and dragon scale.
These really don't earn you much extra, but it's cool seeing the entire site work together.
4. Activity Feed
On the right-hand side of your Treasure Trooper dashboard, take a look at the “Happening Now!” feed.

Here you can see what the rest of the Treasure Trooper community is getting up to. This can help you find earning opportunities that are already working for others.
5. Clara the Guide
When you first sign up you'll be seeing Clara a lot. She's a helpful guide on Treasure Trooper.

I think it's cool they created Clara to help users learn how to use the site, but then again, the site is pretty complicated at first so it's really a necessity. At least they made her fit the theme.
6. VIP Club
Last but not least, the VIP Club is for Treasure Trooper veterans. To be invited to it, you'll need at least $500 in lifetime earnings.
Active members get free perks and benefits like 5 free platinum coins every month, 10 pearls each month, no fees for instant payout, and more.
Treasure Trooper Pros and Cons Explained
Here's a more detailed explanation behind Treasure Trooper's pros and cons:
Pros
- Good community – The Treasure Trooper forum isn't super active, but it is a helpful resource. The chatroom is fun as well, and there are community games like Bingo and dragon fighting.
- It's unique – Treasure Trooper doesn't feel like another regular old GPT site. Most survey sites and GPT sites are cold and boring. This one at least has some flair. Makes me feel like a kid again playing old Miniclip games on my computer.
- Instant payouts – It's always nice to have this as an option.
- Nice sign-up bonus – Certain links (like this one) will get you a $5 sign up bonus (versus the $1 bonus offered through regular links).
- Good referral program – 20% of referral earnings right off the bat is higher than most GPT sites. Plus, with enough referrals, you can get survey commissions and even a $300 cash bonus.
- You can “buy” referrals – The pearl friendship bracelet from the trading hut is a really cool concept. Anyone who buys it can get two random referrals.
- Lots of features – While it might be overwhelming at first, you can tell Treasure Trooper put a lot of work into their features. I especially love all the community additions.
- Guidance – Clara the guide does a good job of walking users through all the different things Treasure Trooper has to offer. Plus, she gives a few free gifts along the way.
Cons
- No mobile app or mobile site – It's 2020! I think Treasure Trooper could kill it with a sleek mobile app, especially if they added new games and such. People are glued to their phones these days, it just seems so silly to neglect this market.
- Lots of features – Yep, it's a pro and a con because some of the features can be a bit over-complicated at times. I get why they added all these different things like scales and dragon fighting, but in the end, if you’re just looking for pure earning power, it might not be the best option. Also, for beginners, there’s a lot to learn and get used to.
- Minor glitches – With all the extra features and animations I had some trouble browsing through the site at times. Nothing detrimental though (other than Mabutu losing his head).
- Hard to tell what you’re actually earning – With the dragon scales and the breeding and platinum coins and treasure maps, it all makes it a bit more difficult to see what you’re actually earning with your time.
- High payout minimum – With some GPT sites offering $1 payout minimums these days, $20 is a bit high.
- No time estimates for offers – On the surveys and cash offers page, you can’t really tell how long an offer will take you to complete until you do it. With sites like Qmee, you can at least get an estimate of how long a survey will take before you start it.
- Lower payouts – It seems like Treasure Troopers offers and surveys pay less than similar offers on other sites. They attempt to make this up by giving dragon scales along with cash, but I'd prefer to just get more cash.
- Instant payout costs extra – A lot of sites offer this for free. $0.50 might not seem like a lot, but for how low the earnings already are, it eats into user earnings quite a bit.
- Inactivity freeze – If you're inactive on Treasure Trooper for 90 days, your account will go inactive. You'll need to contact support to reactivate it. Not a big deal, but a bit of an inconvenience.
Treasure Trooper Reviews From the Web
I researched ratings around the web to see how other users felt about Treasure Trooper. Here are my findings:
Positive Reviews
- Nat B. said she was able to earn over $3,000 in the past 5 years on Treasure Trooper. That's about $50/month on average. Not bad!
- Jonathan said he earned a gift card in 22 days. Being from Zimbabwe, he says Treasure Trooper is one of the few websites that work well for internationals.
- Delton said Treasure Trooper is his favorite survey site of all time. He's been using it for over 10 years to pay his cell phone and utility bill.
Neutral Reviews
- Alex S. said that Treasure Trooper looks old but works fine.
- Timmy F. said he made a lot of money on Treasure Trooper but doesn't like how the moderators treat users.
- Barry said TT is all over the place. “You need a degree to work it out,” he said.
Negative Reviews
- Shana B. found Treasure Trooper confusing and said support was unhelpful and mean.
- Donna B. called Treasure Trooper “pretty much a scam.” She said they owed her $300 but she never received the money.
- Nicole claims TT never paid her, and not to waste your time on the site.
The Verdict?
Treasure Trooper reviews were mixed when I checked.
Some reviewers love the site, others had problems with the site staff or just found the site confusing but had no problems otherwise, and a few had troubles receiving payment (the most worrying issue of the bunch).
Keep in mind, there were a low number of reviews in general when I looked. Here are the aggregate ratings:
- Trustpilot – 3 reviews, 3.8/5 rating.
- Sitejabber – 10 reviews, 3.4/5 rating.
- SurveyPolice – 12 reviews, 2.5/5 rating.
- Average: 3.2/5.

Final Thoughts
Treasure Trooper is definitely one of the more feature-filled GPT sites. And while that can be overwhelming and confusing at first, it does add to the fun and it leaves a lot to be discovered.
If you care more about having fun rather than earning as much money as possible when it comes to GPT sites, Treasure Trooper might be a good fit for you.
On the other hand, if you're trying to optimize your time to get the best hourly rate possible with your GPT endeavors, it's probably best to try another site.
