Becoming a uTest tester is free. To get started, head over to the website or download the uTest app and create your account.
During signup, you'll be asked for your:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Spoken languages
- Address
- Devices you have access to
From there, you'll be able to add some additional information to your profile including some personal details, payment info, etc. This will help uTest match you with relevant tests, so the more info the better.

Earning Money 💵
uTest offers a variety of ways to earn money through testing:
- Finding and Reporting Bugs. Get paid for each approved bug report you submit. The payout is based on the bug's value as determined by the customer.
- Completing Test Cases. Successfully complete step-by-step (scripted) test cases within specific test cycles to earn a fixed payment.
- Bonuses. Some test cycles offer bonus payouts for top testers or for specific achievements. You'll be able to see more details about these in individual projects.
- Usability Studies. Participate in surveys and provide feedback on the user experience of products (websites, apps, etc.) to get paid.
- Additional Tasks. You may also earn money for creating test cases, writing automation scripts, submitting security reports, localizing content, and more.
- Bug Fix Verification (BFV). Get invited to special cycles where you'll verify if previously reported bugs have been successfully fixed in a new product build.
As you complete tests, submit bugs, and participate on uTest, you'll level up your tester rating. A higher rating means higher earnings and more test invites.
Also, if you're consistent on certain projects, you may become a customers "favorite tester", which can increase your earnings with that customer by 5%.
Cashing Out 💰
Once you have at least $1 in your balance, you can cash out your uTest earnings via Payoneer or PayPal.
After cashing out, you can expect to receive your uTest payout in 1-18 days. (uTest payments are processed twice a month, on the 15th and last day of the month. If these dates fall on a weekend or U.S. holiday, expect your payment on the next business day.)

The platform is very legit and has an Academy where you can learn how to navigate through it and going through the lessons might increase your opportunities. The payouts are high, between 10-50USD.
However, since availability of tasks is not guaranteed, it is a platform to earn a little money on the side once in a while.
The payments for tasks are timely I received adequate assistance from the project managers when i encountered issues. Communication was through the Slack App.
Many of the available tasks are not for people in my country. The majority of the tasks go to specific countries.
