Tips:
- Don't lie on screeners. While this can be tempting, UserTesting will most likely find out and it could get you banned.
- Fill out your profile fully, accurately, and keep it updated. This will help you receive more relevant testing opportunities.
- Leave the dashboard open at all times. Some tests go very quickly but leaving your dashboard open will allow you to see them as soon as they're posted, giving you a better chance of qualifying.
- Read the test description before trying to qualify. There’s no point in wasting your time taking a test screener that you know you won’t qualify for.
- Conduct tests in a quiet room. This will help improve your tester rating.
- Test your mic before starting a test.
- Speak clearly and follow instructions carefully when conducting a test.

UserTesting offers a steady stream of work and great hourly rates for website/app usability testers. However, it's not perfect: support can be hard to reach and unhelpful at times and qualifying for tests can be difficult. Still, it's worth trying out if you're looking to make some extra cash online in your spare time.

UserTesting requires you to share some personal information and demographic information, and you need to download a screen recorder, but there are no extreme security concerns here. You can delete your account at any time and, based on the platform's privacy policy, they seem to have reasonable data storage and sharing practices.

In our experience, the UserTesting support team is responsive and polite. They responded within 48 hours. Besides human support, the platform also has helpful resources on-site for smaller issues.
This being said, when reading user reviews, it seems the support quality on UserTesting is a hit or miss. If you have a more complicated issue, you may receive a response much more slowly (or, in some cases, not at all). And, even when receiving a response, you might not get anything very helpful.

Overall, I think UserTesting is a great app if you have good English, live in the US/UK, and have okay technology skills. It pays fairly, it doesn't have you do lots of work for cents. It's fair, and the tutorials are helpful. The site's quite easy to use as well. I just wish there were more tests specifically for my demographic.
Would definitely recommend, if you want to make some spare money too.
- Response regarding your first test is extremely quick - takes only up to 48 hours to know if your sample test is approved or disapproved.
- Clear and well-defined guidelines. The tasks that you need to perform are really well explained.
- Helpful tutorials before beginning with real tests. These tutorials show you what to look out for, and how to get a five star rating.
- Fair payment for each test you take up. The payment varies from $3 to $60 depending upon the type of test - which is quite a lot. On average I get paid about $10 per test.
- Sometimes it's hard to find tests, as you need to be constantly logged into your account and checking your dashboard for tests.
- Some tests with screeners have disappointing results, it's hard to qualify. When I first started with UserTesting, I got lots of tests daily, but they all had a screener and I didn't qualify for any of the, which is sort of annoying as I'd spent all that time taking screeners for nothing.
- Less opportunities if you don’t live in the US/UK.
- When you submit the sample test, make sure that its audio quality is good. This is arguably the most important test, as it's the one that will let you have more opportunities to learn on UserTesting.
- Speak loudly and clearly. Keep on speaking about the tasks that you are doing - don't stop, try not to mumble or say things like um or er.
- Preferably, have good English communication skills. You don't have to be excellent, but you should be good enough to be able to freely express what you're thinking.
- Keep the dashboard open the whole day, maybe in a different window or tab, so you can occasionally check up on it.
The site is fine for testers who would want to try out new services and softwares.

Usertesting is a good platform where one can earn a decent income by just participating in tests. They pay through paypal. They send the tests based on your profile. You need to get some fluent English speaking skill and some technical background to be able to perform these tests.

I easily make $40 a week
It's easy to use and because I get around 3-4 tests a week, I easily make $40 a week.

Leave it on the background of your computer or laptop with the sound on while you do other things and enable mobile phone testing
It is a reputable site to make additional money on the side.
As a Canadian, many testing sites are catered to the US, but this one has given me a lot of opportunities to earn extra cash on the side.
I would recommend this site for people who spend most of their time on the computer. This way you can keep the UserTesting tab open.
Beware, this is not a full-time job, and you should not rely on it to pay the bills.
