How Does ServiceScape Work?
There are 2 types of users on ServiceScape: Freelancers and Clients.
Here's how ServiceScape works for each of those user types:
ServiceScape freelancers (aka professionals) can use the platform to promote and earn money from their editing, translation, graphic design, or writing services.
Getting Started 🔢
To become a ServiceScape freelancer, you'll need to start by picking a skill, either editing, translation, graphic design, or writing. From there, you'll be asked to provide a username, your full name, email address, address, preferred payout method, a profile description, credentials, known languages, and skills.
After submitting your application, wait for a response from ServiceScape. If you're accepted, you'll receive a tutorial project. This is a simple project related to your skillset and it's used to ensure you can deliver projects on time.
After completing the tutorial, you'll receive a small payment and an initial rating for your profile.
Earning Money 💵
Earning money as a ServiceScape freelance all depends on your ability to land clients. Since you're at the whim of the ServiceScape freelancer directory, it's important to optimize your profile for the best chance of (1) Gaining the attention of clients and (2) Getting them to hire you.
When building your profile, ServiceScape recommends writing a strong description, listing all your credentials, and adding portfolio pieces. You can review other successful freelancers' profiles for an idea of what to do with yours.
To increase your chances of making sales, you can add pre-set service offerings to your profile. For example, if you were a writer, you could have a "Write a 1,000-word blog post" service offering. Then, if a potential client lands on your profile, they could order that service at the click of a button.
Once you land a client, all communication, project management tasks, and payments happen directly through ServiceScape. You set your own prices but do keep in mind that ServiceScape takes a 50% commission on all earnings.
Cashing Out 💰
Once you have earned any amount of money (there's no minimum payout), you can cash out your ServiceScape earnings via Check, Direct Deposit or PayPal.
After cashing out, you can expect to receive your ServiceScape payout in 30-40 days.
Key Points 📝
|Payout Options:||Check Direct Deposit PayPal|
PayPal and Check payments are only available to freelancers who are non-U.S. taxpayers not residing in the United States.
|Payout Speed:||30-40 days|
|Commissions / Fees:||ServiceScape takes 50% of earnings from projects.|
Pros and cons are based on real ServiceScape Freelancer reviews.
ServiceScape clients can use the platform to hire freelance editors, translators, graphic designers, and writers. Once a hire is made, all project communications, management, and payments can then be handled directly through the platform.
Getting Started 🔢
To open a ServiceScape client account, you'll need to provide a username, your full name, and an email address.
Hiring Freelancers 💼
Once your account is set up, you can explore ServiceScape's freelancer directory. This contains freelancer profiles. When you see a freelancer you might be interested in hiring, you can view their profile further to see credentials, qualifications, past work, and more.
When you're ready to hire a freelancer, you can message them with a custom project request, or, if they have any pre-set projects available that suit your needs, you can purchase one of those. From there, all project management and communication will happen directly on the platform, along with payments.
Once a project is finished, you can (optionally) rate the freelancer you hired.
If you want to allow others to manage your outsourcing efforts (e.g. your employees), you can open a ServiceScape corporate account.
