How Does Remotasks Work?
For Taskers
Remotasks taskers can earn money by doing AI training tasks like transcription, image annotation, video annotation, liDAR annotation, and more. With no minimum payout, earnings can be cashed out via PayPal or Airtm, Payoneer, or cryptocurrency.
Getting Started 🔢
Becoming a Remotasks tasker is free. To get started, head over to the platform's website and create an account. You can do this by signing in via an existing Google or Facebook account. You'll then be asked to verify your account with a phone number.
Once you're signed in, head over to the Remotasks Training Center. Here, you'll find courses, certifications, and boot camps. Courses are the main things to get through when you're just starting out as completing them will unlock and teach you how to complete specific types of paid tasks.
The courses can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour or longer to complete, depending on the complexity of the task. At the end of each course, there'll be a quiz to test your knowledge.
Earning Money 💵
There are a variety of ways to earn money on Remotasks:
- Data collection tasks. These tasks may ask you to gather existing data (e.g. addresses for restaurants), or they may ask you to upload data that you create yourself (e.g. take photos of household objects).
- Language tasks. These tasks focus heavily on text samples, be it in visual or written form (e.g. on websites). Example task types include:
- Categorization: Categorize objects/data.
- Text highlighting: Select and highlight parts of text, as instructed.
- Transcription: Transcribe text from audio.
- 2D tasks. These tasks focus on things that happen in a 2D environment. Example task types include:
- Image segmentation: Isolate various objects in an image such as road edges, barriers, and other vehicles.
- Box annotation: Accurately draw a bounding box around a specific object, as instructed.
- Polygon annotation: Similar to box annotation only instead of using boxes, you'll label objects more precisely with polygons.
- Cuboid annotation: Draw a 3D bounding box over a 2D picture.
- Video-Box Annotation: Label images in a video instead of just a picture (up to 100 images or 100 frames for a video).
- Video Cuboid Annotation: Label 2D objects with 3D boxes of up to 100 frames.
- Line Annotation: Create and identify lines along road lanes and markers. Point Annotation: Label the edges of pre-annotated cars, focusing on the edges closest to you (or the perspective of the camera).
- 3D tasks. These tasks focus on things that happen in a 3D environment. Example task types include:
- LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) Annotation: Navigate around a 3D scene recorded by a car's LiDAR sensor to make sense of the light points in the scene and label groups of people, cars, trees, and others.
- LiDAR Segmentation: Make sense of objects in a 3D environment. Then, separate objects in the scene such as cars, roads, and barriers.
- Referrals. Share your referral code to earn $10 when your referral signs up with your link and hits the $20 goal within the promotional period of up to two weeks. This earning opportunity is currently not available in the Philippines, Venezuela, and possibly other countries.
Once you submit a task, it'll be sent for review. Once marked as completed, you'll receive your payment based on performance and other factors.
Speaking of reviewing, if you complete enough tasks and courses and maintain a high accuracy score, you may have the opportunity to become a task reviewer yourself.
The platform also has a loyalty program called Remotasks Tiers where top taskers are recognized and will receive additional benefits for higher tiers. Every time you complete a task, you'll earn Remopoints (experience points) that'll help you rank up in the program.
The program consists of three (3) tiers:
- Standard Tier. Offers the usual ticket support speed via Zendesk and normal review time for tasks. Everyone starts here.
- Preferred Tier. Offers ticket support prioritization via Zendesk, empty queue support to find you more work, and faster review time for tasks. Requires 4 Remopoints.
- Elite Tier. Offers ticket support prioritization via Zendesk, empty queue support to find you more work, access to a set of tasks reserved only for Elite taskers, faster review time for tasks, prepayments, and weekly bonuses. Requires 20 Remopoints.

Our Editorial Remotasks Review
Is Remotasks Legit?
We believe Remotasks is legit. It was founded in 2017, is owned and operated by Smart Ecosystem Inc. (a Delaware corporation), and is a subsidiary of Scale AI, Inc. (a venture-backed AI company founded in 2016). One red flag is that we couldn't find much additional information on Smart Ecosystem Inc. or the founders of Remotasks, but this isn't enough to call the platform a scam.
Green flags:
- Founded in 2017.
- Owned and operated by Smart Ecosystem, Inc., a Delaware corporation based in San Francisco, California with an unknown founding date.
- Subsidiary of Scale AI, Inc., a large AI data platform company founded in 2016 with over $600M in venture funding.
- Has mixed reviews online but considering its age and the number of taskers, nothing too extreme.
- Has a well-designed website with transparent information about how the platform works and what users can expect before joining.
- Has an active social media presence.
Red flags:
- It's difficult to find information on the founders of Smart Ecosystem Inc/Remotasks.
- Zendesk help center is only accessible when logged in, which makes it more difficult to learn about the platform before signing up.
Note: All research is done independently and could be wrong or change as new information is gathered. Please do your own due diligence.
Is Remotasks a Good Way to Make Money?
Remotasks is legit and will pay you consistently and on time for doing simple microtasks. However, don’t expect to earn much. The pay is low for most tasks. To earn a decent amount you’ll have to put in a lot of effort. You'll need patience too as some tasks (higher-paying ones) can be difficult at first.
Safety Rating: 4/5
In terms of personal data, Remotasks doesn't seem to ask for too much, but they do require some sensitive info like your phone number.
Also, although optional, taskers who want to unlock and complete more unique tasks may have to undergo account verification by providing a selfie and uploading government documents like your National ID, Driver's License, Passport, or other documents depending on your country.
Other than that, it's important to watch out for scammers on the platform. If a task is asking you for too much sensitive information or they want you to do something that seems unusual, you're better off avoiding it.
Support Quality: 5/5
Most users say that Remotasks support is quick and helpful.
Earning Potential: 2.5/5
Remotasks has good task availability but pay rates for tasks can vary quite a bit. Overall you can expect to earn anywhere from $2-$20/hour.
Payout Minimum Rating: 5/5
Remotasks has no minimum payout amount.
Payout Speed Rating: 3.5/5
Payouts are sent every week on Friday morning (generally 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM UTC, but occasionally we have delays later in the day) based on a pay period from 12:00 AM UTC Friday through the cutoff time the following Tuesday at 12:00 AM UTC. Overall, based on our data, you can expect to get paid in 4-10 days after reaching the minimum payout amount.
Ease Of Entry: 3/5
Remotasks is easy to join, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to start earning money with. Before you can complete tasks, you'll need to go through a variety of training courses related to the specific paid tasks you want to complete, and these training courses are typically unpaid.
That said, since the training courses are pretty detailed and the tasks aren't extremely difficult, almost anyone can start earning on this platform if they're dedicated and patient.
Commissions / Fees Rating: 4/5
Remotasks charges a small fee on PayPal payouts, but that's it.
User Experience Rating: 3.5/5
The Remotasks website is a bit slow at times (this might vary depending on your browser and device), and the training is sometimes a little bit confusing or contradictory, but overall, the user experience is good.
Plus, Remotasks has helpful support pages and a Slack community for communicating with other taskers, which is a nice bonus.

Remotasks- Microtask Projects
Overall, My experience with Remotasks was good. A few things I would change, some mentioned below, but for the day and a half of work on a Project, and to advance after half of day to expert and being paid that for a day and a half almost 2, was fairly decent, an the Payout was of minimal waiting and easy setup as far as platform.
I enjoyed the opportunity to actually do what i loved, (write) and actually get paid for my gifts and talent, and was paid pretty decently for almost 2 days, and to have never done that level of writing before. It was a learning experience, and skills i can add to my Resume and Career Bio.
Project Abrupt shifts, or EQ'S, and no tasks availability after your hard work, and becoming acclimated to the Platform and being ready to continue onward with other projects.
I didn't like the Abruptness when moving from one project to another, No forewarning or completing everything, just shifting and trying to learn another project, after just starting and newly learning a previous one.

Remotask review
I have made money on this platform and i would have made more if only i was serious
They always teach me how to perform tasks first before giving me the tasks
Payouts are automatically generated so, you cannot withdraw your money before payout is processed
Make sure you do tasks to your best to avoid low payouts

Remotasks has very simple tasks which require no experience
I would recommend Remotasks to anyone who is jobless or has a part-time job. Payout is every week, and payout is never delayed, but the problem is some tasks keep on updating thus demanding frequent revision.
There is no minimal payout and payout is every week
You must pass all the exams before you are given work
I would recommend new users to frequently do trainings to maintain a perfect task. Also, make sure you don't forget your login passwords and email at the same time.
