Earning Money 💵
For readers: As a reader, you'll earn 1 Readercoin for every 10 minutes you spend reading/listening to a book.
You can earn even more Readercoin by having a streak. To earn and maintain a streak, you must earn at least 1 Readercoin each day.
Once you hit a 3-day streak you'll earn 2 Readercoin per 10 minutes instead of 1 (until you lose your streak).
To earn more, you can listen to bonus books. These are special books on Readercoin that are being promoted by authors. By listening to or reading a bonus book, you'll earn even more Readercoin for your time.
- Without a streak, you'll earn 2 RC per 10 minutes of a bonus book.
- With a streak, you'll earn 3 RC per 10 minutes of a bonus book.
For authors: Anyone with a Readercoin account can upload their book to Readercoin. Once uploaded, you'll earn 1 Readercoin for each 10 minutes someone spends reading or listening to your book.
You'll also get some powerful statistics about your book(s). You'll be able to see:
- How many people are reading/listening
- How long they spend reading/listening
- What chapter they get to
- When they stop reading; etc.
You can use this data to figure out how to improve your book.
If you want to promote your book further on Readercoin, you can make it a Bonus Book. This will allow readers to earn more RC for checking out your book, but keep in mind, you won't earn anything from your book while it's a bonus book. You can change it back to a normal book whenever you want.
Referrals: You can also earn a bit of extra RC by referring new members to the platform. You'll earn 150 RC per referral, up to four (4) referrals max.
Cashing Out 💰
Once you have at least $2 (~800-1,200 RC) in your balance, you can cash out your Readercoin earnings via Charity Donations, Gift Cards or PayPal.

Is Readercoin Legit?
Readercoin was legit when it was actively operating. Founded in 2018, the platform was owned and operated by Audiopub, LLC, a registered company in Delaware.
Unfortunately, it seems the Readercoin team wasn't quite ready to handle the influx of users they got, as they had to shut down quite quickly for what seems to be financial reasons (though this hasn't been confirmed). It seems most users were able to cash out their remaining points before the official shut down though, which is nice to see.
