Survey sites aren't my favorite way to make money online, but as a teen/kid, I used them to earn my first online dollar. I still have one of my original survey site accounts from 2009.
Now, I've already written a guide to paid surveys (find that here), but:
Ever since I wrote my roundup of ways for teens to make money, I've been getting emails asking for recommendations on the best paid surveys for teens and kids.
So, that's what were going to cover in this article.
I've broken down the paid survey platforms below into sections, sorted by age. The platforms with the lowest minimum age are shown first. If a platform has a minimum age of 13 years old, that means anyone 13 years or older can use it, so if you're 14, 15, 16, 17, etc., don't count those platforms out!
Tip: Stick around until the end of this article for tips to increase your survey earnings, FAQs, and more.

FAQs About Taking Online Surveys for Kids
The lowest minimum age on most paid survey platforms is 13 years old, but some will allow users even younger to sign up. Some platforms also allow young kids to answer surveys on their parent's accounts.
As long as you're using a legitimate site (like the ones on this page), survey sites are generally safe. However, due to the nature of survey-taking, you will be expected to share some personal information. It's recommended to read the privacy policy of each survey site/app you use to understand how this personal information will be used.
Honestly, don't expect to earn a fortune filling in paid surveys. Most teens can expect to earn around $20-$100/month depending on how much time they put in. Young kids can expect to earn even less as there are typically fewer surveys available for them. The average hourly rate for surveys sits around $1-$5/hour.
Pros and Cons of Paid Surveys for Kids
Pros
- Easy work – With paid surveys, no special skills are required and there's really no barrier to entry. Just sign up and start earning. All you have to do is share your opinion, do your best to provide high-quality answers, and stay honest.
- Free gift cards and other convenient payout methods – A lot of online money-making platforms require you to have access to a PayPal account or similar in order to cash out your earnings. The problem? You need to be 18 years old to even have a PayPal account. Fortunately, since paid survey platforms typically offer gift cards and other payout methods, getting paid is easy.
- Can be fun and interesting – Most survey sites try to send you surveys that match your interests. So, you might get to make money talking about your favorite games or foods.
Cons
- Disqualifications – This is one of the big problems with paid surveys. Each survey is looking for a specific type of person, so they use screening questions to filter out the people who don't fit. Unfortunately, that means sometimes you'll go through a survey, answer multiple questions, then get kicked out (with no payment) because you didn't qualify. This is the absolute worst and most frustrating part of survey-taking. However, the more you answer surveys and the higher-quality responses you give, the more you'll qualify.
- Low earnings – Most paid surveys pay far below minimum wage. There's just no getting around it.

Tips for Teen Survey Takers
How to Stay Safe on Survey Sites
Using the internet alone can come with some risks. If you're not smart, you could end up downloading malware or giving sensitive personal information to an identity thief.
Use these tips to stay safe on survey sites:
- Don't give out too much information – This includes things like your phone number, credit card details, full address, bank numbers, SIN, etc. If it seems too personal, I'd just avoid it.
- Note: Some survey platforms will ask for your phone # to confirm your identity. This is much different than an individual survey asking for your phone #. However, as always, be sure to read privacy policies to see how your information will be used!
- Create a new email address specifically for survey sites. This is good for organization and safety. Survey sites send a LOT of emails, so using a separate email address will keep your main inbox from filling up with notifications.
- Note: Don't use a temporary email provider like 10-minute email. Most survey sites will freeze your account if you do that.
- Avoid downloading software to your computer – Legit apps from the app store are okay, but I'd avoid downloading random software like antivirus programs and other things. It's just not worth the risk.
- Don't pay – You're trying to make money here, not spend it.
How to Increase Your Survey Earnings
- Join a handful of paid survey platforms. Don't go crazy, but joining 5 or so unique platforms will give you access to more opportunities. That way you can really test what works best.
- Don't try to cut corners – Putting in false information or trying to speed through surveys seems like a good idea (we've all tried it) but it really isn't a good long-term strategy. It may work for a bit, but eventually, you'll slip up or the survey site will catch on and you'll lose all your earnings and most likely get kicked off the site for good. Also, most surveys have things called attention checks designed to catch speeders or liars, so watch out for those!
- Create a schedule – The highest-earning survey-takers all seem to have a set schedule when filling out surveys. For example, many seem to get their paid surveys done in the morning. Grind it out, and then rest.
- Take breaks – Filling surveys for hours straight is an easy way to go insane. Take breaks every now and then to refresh. This will increase the quality of your answers as well, which should help your earnings.
- Set earning goals – Start small. For example, set a goal to earn $1/day. This gives you something specific to work toward, and once you hit it, you can feel satisfied and sign off.
- Work smart, not hard – As you fill out surveys, keep track of which ones typically work well for you. Which sites work best? Who pays the best hourly rates? You won't be able to nail everything down perfectly but having an idea of what works best will help you make the most of your time. Similarly, if you notice a certain survey provider or offer wall isn't working well for you for whatever reason, avoid it.
- Track your earnings – To help with the above tip, use our survey income tracker to track your earnings with each individual site below month-by-month. That way you'll be able to see which sites are working well for you and which ones are a waste of time.
- Get an antivirus – Most surveys are completely safe but as an extra precaution, downloading something to recognize and remove malware from your computer is a good idea. I use Malwarebytes and highly recommend it. The free version is all you need.
