Besides using platforms to get paid for your web searches directly, there are a few other ways to turn your Googling abilities and web browsing habits into cash.
1. Get Paid to Watch Videos
If you're more interested in getting paid for browsing video content rather than text content, that's possible too! Lots of different GPT sites offer paid video watching.
2. Cashback
If you search the web, there's a good chance you shop there too.
Be sure to use cashback platforms like Rakuten while you browse for some easy, free cash!
3. Freelancing
This is probably the most lucrative way to get paid to browse the internet, but also the most brain-intensive.
Types of freelancers that get paid to browse the web include:
- Search Engine Evaluators: These people review search results for search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, and more, to make sure they're relevant.
- Researcher: People hire freelancer researchers all the time to collect, organize, or analyze data. If you're good at using the web to find interesting and relevant data, you might be good at this.
- Search Engine Optimizers (SEOs): These people help businesses and brands rank better on search engines like Google. They do this by doing things like keyword research (looking for search queries with search volume, buying intent, low competition, etc.).
- Writing: Freelance writers sometimes have to write about topics that are new to them. Effective research skills and a love for learning can help a lot.
- Coding: Coding is another skillset that benefits a lot from Google searching. You can work through a lot of new problems and ideas by searching for and learning from people who have done similar things (or asked similar questions) in the past.
4. Investing
Investing can be a great way to make money, and research is definitely an important part of it. Just keep in mind, active trading is not for everyone. For most people, putting money into an index fund like the S&P 500 and then just keeping it there will produce better returns and require way less thought and stress.
Still, if you like learning about new companies and researching stocks on the web, trying your hand at a few stock picks or crypto investments might be fun.
Just remember, less than 10% of active investors beat the market average.
Search and Earn FAQs
There are a few reasons why someone might pay you to search the web. In some cases, search engine companies want to bring more users to their search engine, so they use money as an incentive. Some platforms will also add advertisements to your searches and then share the revenue from these ads with you. Another reason someone might pay you to search the web is to learn more about your search habits (in aggregate, this can be valuable data for brands, businesses, and researchers).
