Review Process

This Eureka app review was researched and written by an anonymous Reddit user who had been using Eureka for about 5 months prior, earning over $140 in total with the app.

Next, I did a bit of my own independent research into the safety, legitimacy, and reputation of Eureka, added additional content, and finally edited everything together for this in-depth review. Enjoy!

What is Eureka?

Is Eureka Legit?

Yes, Eureka is legit. They pay out on time, they're transparent about their company information and policies, they're active on socials and in their community, and the Eureka app and website are updated often.

After publishing this review, I also got in touch with Tommy (one of Eureka's co-founders) and he was extremely helpful and responsive — another good sign.

The only potential red flags I can think of are:

  1. Eureka is still pretty new. This doesn't mean they're a scam, but they haven't had time to build (and prove) their reputation quite yet.
  2. There are many complaints of late disqualifications and inconsistent earnings and surveys. Honestly, these problems exist with every single survey app and site out there. Still, it's something to be aware of.

Who Can Join?

  • Age requirement: 18 years old.
  • Country requirements:  United States.
  • Device requirements: Android or iOS for mobile surveys. Any other device can be used to access Eureka via the web.
  • Payout requirements: PayPal account if you want to receive PayPal payments. Otherwise, gift cards are available.

Safety Inspection

  • SSL certificate? Yes.
  • Privacy policy: Here.
  • Personal data collected from Eureka survey takers:
    • Email address, birth date, gender, zip code (for profile creation and survey matching).
    • May ask for address and/or phone number (for additional identity confirmation).
    • Demographic information (e.g. relationship status, household income, product preferences, shopping habits, political affiliation, job title, etc.) (for survey qualification).
    • PayPal address (for payment)
  • Do they ever share user data with third-parties? Yes, they may share your personal information with third-party survey providers in order to match you with more surveys. They may also share your information with their sponsors, affiliates, and business partners “for their own business purposes and direct marketing purposes.”
  • Do they protect user data? Yes, data is encrypted with bank level security. They mention in their privacy policy that they have “undertaken commercially reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized use or access to your information.”
  • Can you delete your account and data? Yes. Either through the settings page of Eureka or by emailing support@eurekasurveys.com.

Is Eureka Safe?

As long as you're okay with sharing a bit of non personally identifiable demographic information, Eureka is safe to use. The fact that they don't even require a first and last name to sign up actually makes this survey site one of the more private ones.

That said, they do mention in their privacy policy that they'll share information for direct marketing purposes, which sounds a lot like selling personal info for cash.

Update: I talked to one of Eureka's co-founders, Tommy, on the phone, and he clarified that Eureka does not make money through selling personal information.

My advice? Use a separate email address for Eureka (and all your survey sites) and be careful not to provide any sensitive information that you're not comfortable sharing on the site.

Eureka Support Quality

Eureka support seems quick and helpful, and active in responding to reviews and other problems.

In the past, I had to contact the support team due to an unprocessed payment. I received an answer within a day asking me to confirm my information and after replying, I received the payment on the same day.

How Eureka Works

Eureka works similarly to Prolific in that all the surveys you find on the platform are created by independent researchers. After a researcher creates and deploys a survey, it goes out to any Eureka users who match the targeted demographics.

How the Eureka app works for survey takers

For the survey takers, the Eureka app and site are both pretty intuitive and well-designed. Account creation is easy and filling out surveys is actually a nice process (when glitches are absent).

As you complete surveys and other tasks around the Eureka app or site (more details below), you'll earn cash that you can receive via PayPal or gift card.

Eureka Earning Potential

How much you earn with Eureka will heavily depend on your demographics and a bit of luck and good timing.

Here's the earnings data we've gathered from Eureka users:

  • Highest $/hour: $3
  • Lowest $/hour: $1
  • Avg. $/hour: $1.98
  • Highest $/month: $45
  • Lowest $/month: $8.04
  • Avg. $/month: $18.26

If Eureka introduced some kind of minimum hourly rate that researchers had to follow (like Prolific does), I'm sure these numbers would improve a ton.

Work Volume

Work volume on Eureka will vary, again, by your demographics and how lucky you are with getting into surveys before they fill up.

Based on the Eureka users we've surveyed, you can expect to receive surveys anywhere from a few times a day to less than a few times a month.

Payment Proof

Here are a few of my Eureka payments from PayPal:

All of my payments so far have been instant except for one, which was delayed due to an internal error (described above). That got sorted quickly.

Summary

Eureka Surveys in a newcomer in the paid survey space, and it's not perfect. But, the development seems very active, support is helpful, and the app and site are intuitive and well-designed. Still, surveys can be few and far between, and the pay isn't great, so there's room for improvement.

Rating Breakdown

Earning Potential 1/5

Based on real user data, you can expect to earn around $1.98/hour on average.

Work Volume 3/5

Most users will get at least one new survey every day or so, but there can be times when nothing shows up for a while.

Payout Options 4/5

With PayPal being an option along with 70 different retailer gift cards, there's not a lot to complain about.

Payout Minimum 3/5

$10 payout minimum isn't too high, but it can take some time to reach.

Payout Speed 4.5/5

Most payments are instant but can take up to 3 business days.

Accessibility 3/5

Eureka is currently only available in the US. No special skills required to earn here.

Support 5/5

Eureka's support team is quick and helpful.

Usability 3/5

The Eureka site and app are well designed and easy to use, but some surveys will disqualify you after you've already put a lot of time into them.

Ways to Earn Money on the Eureka App or Website

1. Surveys

Surveys are (of course) the main way to earn on Eureka. There are two types of surveys available:

  • Quick surveys – These are quicker surveys that pay varying amounts and typically involve simple multiple-choice questions and short written answers. Eureka sources these directly from companies, so they often pay better and disqualify less often (but they're also less common).
  • Sweepstake surveys – These surveys usually pay $0.22-$0.24 in my experience + give you an entry into a sweepstake competition for a potentially big reward of $5, $10, $20+ (more on this below). These surveys are sourced from third parties.
Eureka Surveys preview

In my experience, I rarely get Quick Surveys. The majority of what I receive are low paying Sweepstake Surveys.

Survey disqualifications will happen but Eureka will award you a small compensation of 2 cents for them. It's not a lot, but it's better than most survey sites.

Oh, and as a bonus for cashing out, Eureka will give you a quick survey worth $3.50.

Tips:

  • Don't fill surveys you've completed before. Sometimes Eureka will send you duplicate surveys, but in my experience, they won't pay again.
  • Monday through Friday afternoon and evenings are the best times to take surveys – That's when new ones are added most often (source).
  • Pay attention to trick questions, take your time, and stay honest – This will help you avoid being disqualified and potentially give you access to more surveys down the road.
  • Disqualifications pay, but don't overdo it. Purposely disqualifying yourself from a ton of surveys in a row might lock your account.
  • If you're disqualified really late, contact support – They might credit you for the full amount if they feel a researcher disqualified you unfairly.

2. Daily Polls

The daily polls are simple multiple-choice questions that pay 1 cent each. Basically free money.

3. Sweepstake Entries

As mentioned above, after every completed sweepstake survey you're entered into a random lottery. The winner is typically announced 3-5 days after completion.

The chances of winning these are incredibly small. I'd prefer that they just pay more for each survey.

How to Withdraw Your Eureka Earnings

Eureka offers two main payment methods:

  1. PayPal cash
  2. Gift cards – These are newly added Eureka rewards as of late 2020. Over 70 different brands available.

You'll need at least $10 in your account to cash out. Payments will be instant the majority of the time, but may take up to 3 business days.

Additional Eureka Tips

1. Follow Eureka on Social Media

These are listed above under Company Info and they're useful to follow as Eureka often announces new features, giveaways, and other promotions through them.

2. Enable Location Tracking on the Eureka App

According to Eureka (source), this will open you up to more, higher-paying surveys. (Also makes you more monetizable!)

3. Use Eureka on Mobile and Desktop

Some surveys are desktop-only, so be sure to check your account on a computer from time to time if you want to increase your earning potential.

Eureka Pros and Cons

The Good

  • Simple to use – The Eureka app and website are both pretty intuitive. Everything is properly marked, has an attractive design, and is very simplistic.
  • Good survey availability – I typically have a few surveys or more to do every day.
  • Payout bonus – Every time you cash out you'll receive a $3.50 survey that takes less than 2 mins.
  • Mobile (Android and iOS) and PC availability
  • Fast payments
  • Continued development – I’ve seen Tommy (one of the founders of Eureka) responding to a lot of Eureka app reviews on the Google Play store, app store, and even Reddit. That’s good to see as it shows they care and are working to improve the app.

The Bad

  • Low paying surveys
  • Contains some bugs – Every now and then a survey will DQ after completion. Sometimes you get sent to the same survey more than once.
  • High minimum cashout
  • Surveys are longer than they claim to be

Eureka Surveys Reviews From the Web

It's always good to look at what others are saying about something. Here are some reviews of Eureka Surveys from the App Store and Google Play Store from February 2021:

Positive reviews:

  • “I love this survey app it is my favorite one compare to other survey apps. The minimum to cash out is 10.00 and when I xfer it to my PayPal it’s quick, less than a minute. It’s not gonna make you rich quick but it’s just simple and easy to use and the fastest cash out I’ve seen so far- they’re customer service are great too! Continue to be awesome Eureka”
  • “This is the best app of its kind! I have had it for less than a week and used it in my downtime only, and already cashed out $10. It was sent instantly unlike most other apps that take 3 days. And then they gave me $3.50 credit for cashing out! Great survey platform.”
  • “I’ve used this app daily, especially with my kids in a school. It’s nice to have a few dollars I can transfer into my account or to choose a retailer gift card. The site pays instantly and there’s always surveys available to take. It does take a little bit to get to the $10 cash out, but it’s a good feeling when you do it.”

Critical reviews:

  • “I like the idea, and the UI in the app is great. But there are some challenging things about it. I’ve been kicked out of surveys that I spent many minutes on, and sometimes I don’t get any compensation, and sometimes I get 2 cents. Sometimes it seems like I have completed the survey, and I get a message that basically says “oops, we aren’t going to compensate you for your data.””
  • “This app is very convenient and helps you get cash quickly. I wish they would include higher-paying surveys [though].”
  • “Wish I could cash out earlier, but other than that, it’s really great”

Negative reviews:

  • “At first I liked the app. It seemed easy to make over a dollar. Now that I’m at $5.00, the only surveys they offer are for a couple cents and it says it will take 2 mins but in reality they take 15 mins. Then you get to the end and most of them say sorry this survey is no longer available and they don’t pay you! Stupid”
  • “Few surveys and they pull you in with large payouts then lower them. So far I’m earning about 10c per survey, they take forever, and I doubt I’ll ever get to cash out. I wouldn’t bother.”
  • “This app allows you to finish an entire survey before telling you that you are disqualified or that the link is no longer available. So unless you’re getting a high-payout survey that is less than a few minutes, none of them are worth the investment of time at the risk of reaching the end and having it say that the survey is closed.”

Verdict?

Many of the complaints I read against Eureka seem justified, but I haven't seen a survey app or site before that didn't have it's fair share of problems.

With that, most of Eureka's reviews were positive and they have been releasing updates pretty often, so hopefully, that's a sign that they're working to fix their issues.

If you're a Eureka user, leave a review below!

How to Get Started

Getting started with Eureka is easy. Here's a step-by-step breakdown:

Step 1: Create a Eureka Account

To get started, download the Eureka app (iOS or Android) or create an account on the Eureka website.

The only information you will need to create an account is your gender, age, zip code, email, and password.

Step 2: Fill Out Your Survey Profile

After you’re signed up, be sure to head right over to the surveys page and complete 3 quick surveys before starting doing normal ones:

  1. Welcome survey – Pays $1.00 and explains in detail how Eureka works. Easy money.
  2. Profile survey – Pays $0.44 for you to fill your profile. You'll need to provide an array of demographic information for this that will help you get matched with more surveys.
  3. Example survey – Pays $0.39 and gives you an idea of how surveys are completed on the platform.

Step 3: Start Earning

Now you can start doing normal Eureka surveys. Remember to stick to the survey tips above and keep your eye out for new surveys whenever they appear.

Good luck! Once you've been using Eureka for a bit, come back and leave a Eureka app review down in the comments sharing your experience.

  • PaidViewPoint – Inconsistent but quick and easy surveys (plus, no disqualifications).
  • Pinecone Research – No minimum payout requirements and $3 per survey.
  • Lifepoints – Huge survey site that's available in many countries.

Final Thoughts

If you use other survey apps and you're looking to add a new one to your arsenal, Eureka is a decent choice. It's a bit finicky at times and it's still very new, but development on it seems active and it's improving often.

I’ve never had a problem with Eureka. I’ve always recieved my cashouts and as far as customer service, They’ve reimbursed me for emailing them and letting them know I accidentally left the survey when I tried to reload and messed it up. This isn’t a part time job, if you’re that pissed because you’re getting disqualified and it’s taking forever then maybe you need to be honest or answer the questions with the same answer more than once. If you’re so far into a survey and you’re disqualified it simply states that they’re looking for certain individuals that can relate to what they’re asking about. I’ve been using Eureka since November of 2021 and as long as you stay consistent and honest you won’t ever have a problem and you will be paid. Who complains about free money whenever you don’t have to punch a clock everyday? If you want good pay, get a real job.

This app is garbage. Over & over & over I take a very long 20 min survey & get to the very end & it closes & says this survey is no longer available. Sure after wasting 20 min of my time. At least other surveys give you a few cents at least. Very bad app & not worth the time either.

These are scam artists. Go look at their Terms and Conditions. They say they aren’t responsible if they decide they don’t feel like paying you or if your funds “go missing” or they just don’t have the funds to pay you. Yet guarantee on the home page and on the app that you will be compensated for the work you put in. You essentially agree to free labor and the entire facade is just a farce. It’s ridiculous. Customer services ignores emails. Report to BBB so others are aware of this scam. They owe me the 10 bucks I earned and said it would be in my PayPal within 1-2 days. It’s been well over a week and they ignore all emails and communication. Scammers. This is true for the vast majority of users if you can tell a bot or paid scammer from a real user looking at reviews.

Man, they are a bunch of BULLSHITTERS!!!!!!!! They let you get up to where you can ALMOST cash out and then STOP YOU FROM GETTING ANYTHING!!!!!!!! I’ve had the same Sweepstakes Surveys come up of three days now but when you click them they tell you that they have none available!!!!!! Then why even put it up there??????

Also, there are surveys that take you through the whole thing and then “freeze” when you’re about to send in your survey for the compensation and you get NOTHING!!!!!!

Or they take you through a bunch of questions only to kick you off with a lousy two cents!!!!!!!!!

I could go on!!!!!! I’m deleting this app after I FINALLY get my lousy $.24 cents to cash out, which I’ve been doing for days now!!!!!!!

They get paid for your opinions then knock you out at completion. Attorney General needs to look into this site. Initial few dollars surveys are high reward then low payouts and lie to you about completion time all while paying out pennies. Disgraceful.

This app is a joKe!! I have spent HOURS on surveys that advertise a payment Amy of $1.34+…. But after getting to the end of the survey, (usually 10-15 mins of your time), it kicks you out and gives you an amount of 2 cents !! What a fucking JOKE !!

All the surveys i try to take that are 50 cents or more, i always either get disqualified for right away or i answer questions 20 minutes and then the survey magically breaks and i dont get reimbursed for my time. Ive contacted the app people a few times and have never heard back. Its odd that i qualify for all the 12 cent and under surveys as well that i qualified for the very first surveys they give you when you sign up that are 1.50 or more. Almost as if they were just to get you in.

Must be working for them, but i spent probably around 10 hours to finally get to 10 dollars and im pretty sure the 3.50 they give you when you cash out is only to keep you taking more surveys for 9 cents because youre almost to that 10 dollars again right….yeah, not doing it again. Maybe if i was homeless and had nothing better to do with my time, but i could make more money selling my toe nail clippings than i did with this app.
